Q: How come all of our practices have been removed from the schedule?
A: When a team has completed their playoff run, and there are no other season games to play, the team's season is considered over and ice time will only be allocated if it is available
Q: What happens to our weekly practice and game times once we are eliminated from the playoffs?
A: Ice time for teams no longer playing is either given to other teams still in play, or given back to the arena for allocation to other customers, per the organizations' contract with the arena. This is a standard practice across most minor hockey organizations and the organization is credited for any ice time returned to the arena.
Q: Why did we get 2 practices after we were eliminated, but not any more?
A: The contract with the arena stipulates a minimum amount of notice that must be given for returning ice times. When a team is eliminated, it usually takes some time for all of the appropriate notifications to filter through, which, combined with the minimum notification period, results in a weeks' worth of ice time remaining for the team that was eliminated.
Q: We have been given more than 2 practices in other years, why haven't we got that this year?
A: If there is a reason ice cannot be returned to the arena, it will be distributed first to teams still in the playoffs, then to all remaining teams as equally as possible. This may result in more ice being available some years, but not every year.
Q: I payed for the full season, and the season lasts until the end of March, do I get money back then?
A: The season lasts until a team has been eliminated from the playoffs and has no more games to play. The season may last until late March, but it is not a guarantee. Part of the registration fees do pay for ice time, however there are a number of other operational costs that go into a minor hockey organization (referees, equipment, league registration, etc), all of which are accounted for in the organizations' budget. There will be no refunds to teams who are eliminated early from the playoffs.
