EMC Summer Skills Development - Video 3 - PRACTICE: Pace, Tempo and Work Ethic
Submitted By Sandi Prendergast on Wednesday, July 15, 2020
Players,

As we reach the halfway point of our summer skills it has become quite evident to me that there is sometimes a wide range of work ethic, attention to details and commitment to practicing with purpose. I believe all the players in our association want to be hockey players - the difference is - some REALLY want to be hockey players!

The effort you bring forth each practice determines what you will get from that practice and how much you will improve. There are no short cuts to success and no easy way to the top - if it was easy, then everyone would do it!

I don’t believe it is a coincidence that each and every successful hockey player that I have coached possessed an excellent work ethic and dedication to practice.    For the remainder of our skills sessions, embracing the following practice habits will help you reach your goals and become a better hockey player.

*  work ethic - start and finish each drill with good pace and tempo - don’t be outworked
*  attention to detail -  be mentally committed to what is being taught - your mental effort is just as important as your physical effort
*  push yourself to be better -  practice with purpose by pushing yourself every practice to be the best you can
*  appreciate practice - love the game.

Practice doesn’t make perfect - perfect practice makes perfect!   Watch the following 3 videos for further insight.
