Elgin Middlesex Chiefs Major Midget Development Program
Submitted By Sandi Prendergast on Tuesday, March 31, 2020
The Elgin Middlesex Chiefs are pleased to announce the appointment of Trevor Gallant as head coach for the 2020/21 hockey season.  Trevor brings a wealth of hockey experience both as a player, coach and skills development instructor.   His 15 year playing career includes Finland, Germany, Italy, Austria as well as Korea.   In addition, Trevor is still the 4th all-time leading scorer in the Ontario Hockey League from his time with the Kitchener Rangers.

Coach Gallant made it abundantly clear during the interview process for this head coach position that he wanted his program to be more than just coaching Midget hockey.  He emphasized the importance of improving each player’s individual skillset, refining their positional skills, as well as doing all the “extras” required to help each player succeed and get to their next level.  In addition Trevor will strive to create a hockey culture and environment based on "team play and accountability”, which he feels will best accommodate their future transition to Junior hockey.

D.Warren - EMC Coach Mentor

Hello U18 Elgin Chiefs Prospects

I am very much looking forward to developing the EMC Major Midget players in the upcoming season. There will be time set aside weekly where my main focus will be skill development for each individual player as well as game skills that accommodate better decision making which will help them to become a more complete hockey player. This is a very important season for these young men - to continue to work hard towards their goals and to learn what it takes to get to their next level both on and off the ice.

I have a very high passion for this game that has given me so much. I look forward to teaching and developing these players with the heart and desire to be the very best coach and teacher that I can.   In addition, I will hold myself and this Major Midget program to a very high standard. A standard that embraces and promotes accountability, respect, character and team play.

Kind Regards, Trevor Gallant
