Minor Bantam '98 - ’98 CHIEFS bring NATIONS CUP home to CANADA!
Submitted By Kevin Johnstone, Minor Bantam Coach on Tuesday, January 24, 2012
The minor bantam Chiefs played in the Nations Cup this past weekend at the Great Lakes Sports Center in Fraser, Michigan.  This tournament is set up to be Canadians verses Americans.  Points were given to either side as games were played over Friday & Saturday with the winning side awarded home team advantage on Sunday and starting on a power-play.  The country with the most points from Sunday’s finals takes home the victory.

After the Americans came out on top both Friday and Saturday it was Sunday that really counted and the Canadian teams came ready to play.  The Chiefs faced some tough competition over three days facing Chicago Mission (2-2 tie), Belle Tire (3-0 win), Chicago Young Americans (6-4 win) and Buffalo Saints (6-3 loss).  The Chiefs finished 1st in their division and were paired up against Detroit Compuware for the final.  The teams kept the fans on the edge of their seats for an action-packed game that saw the Chiefs sheer grit and determination pay off with a 4-3 win.  The win captured 4 points and clinched The Cup for Canada with 13 points to the American’s 7.  Proud to be Canadian and Proud to be a Chief!
